Status of achievement of APDCL on promotion of Renewable Energy in Assam (As on 05.03.2016)

Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) being the State Nodal Agency for renewable power in Assam has given major thrust on solar power for capacity addition in a sizeable way. APDCL has primarily focused on implementation of Grid - Interactive solar power projects which are revenue generating; require PPA with net-metering concept in a bid to plug the daily demand and supply gap and feed the power into the grids . APDCL has already entered in to MOU with 14 nos solar power project developers with cumulative capacity addition of 168.6 MW on build, own, operation mode and signed PPA with 2 nos of developer for 15 MW capacity addition

Under Annual Plan, GoA , APDCL has commissioned 100 KWp Grid interactive roof-top/ground mounted solar photovoltaic power plant with Net- Metering arrangement in some important tourist locations/wildlife sanctuaries viz. Aranya Tourist Lodge, Kaziranga National Park, Kohara; PobitoraYatri Niwas, Near Wildlife Sanctuary, Pobitora; Asstt. Director of Industries & Commerce complex, Margherita of Tinsukia district a with commissioning of altogether 40 nos. of Solar Street lighting system and another 210 KWp Grid interactive solar roof-top/ground mounted plant (with minimal battery backup) in 10 nosGovt educational colleges out of the budgeted allocation received from Govt. of Assam namely M C College, Barpeta; Nalbari College, K R B Girls College, Fatasil, Guwahati; Tinsukia College, Margherita College, Ledo College, Philobari College, MotilalaPeriwal College, Margherita , N NSaikia College, Titabar& J B College, APDCL has taken up Central/ State govt. sponsored power projects through off-grid solar energy route to supplement the energy need of the state. APDCL has already commissioned 100 KWp off-grid roof-top/ground mounted solar photovoltaic power plant in BijuleeBhawan, ASEB with financial support from MNRE . Over and above, APDCL has Commissioned Off- Grid SPV plant & Street Lighting in the locations having tourism and historical importance is in progress viz. (a) Umananda Temple (b) UmatumaniHills,BiswanathGhat, © Ajan Peer dargah, SoraguriSapari, Sibsagar (d) SukaphaMaidam, Charaideu, Sibsagar under Annual Plan, GoA

Considering some villages are too remote to be electrified through grid extension, installation of 276 nos of standalone Micro -Grid SPV plant in 37 no villages and 236 nos of Solar Central Charging station with distribution of 11800 lanterns to villagers of 30 villages are in progress under Annual Plan besides commissioning of 13 nos. of Micro-Grid SPV plant in Rampur, Kamrup&Bihpuria Block, North Lakhimpur

APDCL has so far installed 69825 nos of standalone SPV Home Lighting Systems completing 1111 nos of villages and 784 nos of Solar Street Lighting System have been installed in unelectrified villages with financial support from MNRE Under Hon’ble Chief Ministers’ Special programme 93000 Solar Lanterns were distributed to the deserving school/ flood affected students where there is no grid . Under Annual Plan, GoAAPDCL has already installed 3178 nos of LED based Individual Home Lighting System in 12 nos villages of Jonai&Dhemaji of Dhemaji District

Hybrid solar & wind lighting prototypes is another promising applications related to renewable energy based on the favorable combination of two or more energy sources within the same system, such as wind and solar ones. Execution of wind- solar hybrid street lighting system in 265 locations Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Kamrup(M), &Kamrup (R) districts are in progress under Annual Plan, GoA of which 109 systems have already been installed

APDCL has gone ahead with implementation of solar street lighting systems in Assam- Nagaland boarder of Golaghat District near Gibbon forest and 10 KWp off- grid solar power plant at Marianka Hill Top Repeater Station of Assam Police Radio Organization (APRO), Hastinapur, Guwahati with financial support of Govt. of Assam.

Work for installation of 256 nos. Standalone LED based Solar Street Lighting System in 21 Locations of Tinsukia&Kamrup(M) under Smart Street Lighting Project Scheme of Annual Plan has already been completed in Tinsukia District, Siu KaPhaSamannayKhetra,Jorhat, Samaguri, Nagaon District and Titabar, Jorhat.

Considering ample potential scope for solar water pumping for micro- irrigation/agriculture purposes APDCL has taken up installation of solar 33 nos of solar water pumps throughout the state which are located in a far-off and isolated place where connectivity to the grid posed a serious problem to the Discoms.

MNRE has sanctioned one Solar Park of 69 MW at Amguri, Sibsagar District for development through a joint venture company between Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL0, Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) & Assam Power Generation Corporation Limited (APGCL) acting as the state designated agency of Assam

Rural Electrification Corporation Limited, GoI has recently sanctioned altogether 521 villages for implementation of DDG(Decentralised Distributed Generataion) projects in remote unelectrified villages under DeendayalUpadhyaya Gram JyotiYojana(DDUGJY) and execution is in progress giving thrust on harnessing renewable sources of energy in the state.
